Whether you&#8217;re a first-time speaker or experienced at conference talks, we&#8217;d love to hear from you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"background-color:#ffffcc;text-align:center\" class=\"has-background\">The call for speakers has been closed: the schedule is <a href=\"https:\/\/2019.zurich.wordcamp.org\/schedule\/\">available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences that focus on everything WordPress. All speakers will receive a ticket to the event and be invited to the social event in the evening of Friday, 13th September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you need help covering the travel costs you can apply for support from <a href=\"https:\/\/donatewc.org\/sponsorship-application-form\/\">DonateWC<\/a> or the <a href=\"https:\/\/yoast.com\/yoast-diversity-fund\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">Yoast Diversity Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Format<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lightning talk: 10 minutes<\/strong>, without a question round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Long-form talk:<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>35 minutes<\/strong> in total, broken down to around 30 minutes for the talk and 5 minutes for questions at the end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Panel: 30 minutes<\/strong> of&nbsp;discussion amongst up to four people, all answering questions from the audience about a specific topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Topics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We welcome a diverse lineup of speakers to provide value to our broad audience. This year we would love to receive proposals across a range of different topics. Here are a few suggestions and ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Different perspectives and experiences from users, content writers and managers.<\/li><li>Integrating accessibility into projects.<\/li><li>Advances in PHP and how that affects WordPress.<\/li><li>React and JavaScript best practices.<\/li><li>Design and User Experience.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Language<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You are welcome to give your talk either in German or English &#8211; it&#8217;s up to you. Your talk may reach a wider audience if you present in English, as we expect to welcome attendees from all over Switzerland and from the rest of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Submission deadline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The deadline for speaker submissions is&nbsp;<s>Sunday, 28th July 2019<\/s> <strong>Sunday, 4th August 2019<\/strong>, at midnight. We will inform all applicants by&nbsp;Friday, 9th&nbsp;August whether their proposal has been accepted or not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Apply as a speaker<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Do you have a topic you&#8217;d like to talk about? Great! We&#8217;re looking for a diverse speaker submission pool. Both new and experienced conference speakers are very welcome to apply. We are planning to offer coaching for first time speakers, so <a href=\"https:\/\/2019.zurich.wordcamp.org\/contact\/\">get in touch<\/a> if you&#8217;d like to know more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Don\u2019t be shy!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You don&#8217;t need to be an expert, a programmer or a designer to submit a proposal!
